Summary of our Privacy Promise: Zamaan is designed to serve your religious and calendar needs with utmost respect for your privacy. We do not sell, rent, monetize, or share your personal data with third-party data brokers or advertisers. Location data is used strictly to calculate local prayer times and Qibla direction, and notifications and alarms are used solely for your prayer calls (Azaan) and personal reminders.

1. Introduction & Overview

Welcome to Zamaan ("we", "our", or "us"). Zamaan is an Islamic, Bohra Hijri, and interfaith calendar application developed by Mactronik.

This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected, how it is used, and how your privacy is protected when you use our Android mobile application (Package Name: com.mactronik.zamaan) and associated services hosted at https://zamaan.magnustic.com.

By installing or using Zamaan, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect and How We Use It

A. Location Information

Zamaan requires geographic coordinates (latitude, longitude, and timezone offset) to accurately compute Islamic prayer times (Fajr, Sunrise, Zawaal, Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, Nisful Layl) and determine the Qibla compass direction towards the Kaaba in Mecca.

  • Automatic GPS / Network Location: When granted permission, Zamaan accesses your device's coarse or fine location while the app is active to calculate local prayer times.
  • Manual Location: If you choose not to grant location permissions, you may manually enter a city or coordinate in Settings.
  • Usage & Scope: Location is used exclusively for prayer time calculations and Qibla compass bearing. We do not track your location in the background or monitor your movements over time.

B. Device Identifiers & Cookies

Zamaan does not require user registration, passwords, or personal login accounts. To remember your selected calendar views (Bohra, Sunni, Shia, Gregorian, etc.), prayer notification preferences, and personal events across sessions:

  • An anonymous, randomly generated device identifier (UUID) is assigned to your device (samaa_device_id cookie or X-Device-Id header).
  • This identifier is purely functional and is never linked to your real-world identity, email, phone number, or payment details.

C. User-Created Calendar Entries & Preferences

If you choose to create personal calendar events (such as birthdays, anniversaries, or custom reminders) or upload custom audio ringtones:

  • This information is stored to display reminders on your calendar and trigger your chosen alerts.
  • It is private to your device and never shared publicly or used for commercial profiling.

D. Technical & Network Logs

Like all web and network services, our servers automatically log standard network transmission data when your app syncs calendar data (such as IP address, request timestamp, and app version). These temporary server logs are used solely for maintenance, fraud prevention, and server performance optimization.

3. Android Device Permissions & Explanations

In accordance with Google Play Developer Policies, below is the transparent disclosure of all Android permissions requested by Zamaan:

USE_EXACT_ALARM		 Alarms Ensures that prayer notifications and Azaan play at the exact scheduled astronomical minute, even when the device is in battery-saving sleep modes.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK		 Media / Audio Service Allows uninterrupted playback of the Azaan audio recitation at prayer times when triggered by the alarm. Automatically stops when audio finishes.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED System / Boot Restores your scheduled prayer alarms after your device is rebooted or powered on, so you do not miss upcoming prayers.
INTERNET Network Allows the app to fetch calendar data, holiday schedules, and prayer calculation tables from our secure server (zamaan.magnustic.com).
WAKE_LOCK System Allows the device to momentarily wake up to play the user-configured prayer alert on time.

4. Data Sharing & Third-Party Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, license, or share your personal data with third parties.

  • No Advertising SDKs: Zamaan does not integrate third-party ad networks, advertising trackers, or data brokers.
  • No Social Media Trackers: We do not integrate tracking pixels or third-party behavioral analytics SDKs that track you across other apps or websites.
  • Legal Disclosures: We will only disclose information if required to do so by applicable law, regulation, or valid court order.

5. Data Storage, Retention & Deletion

Storage Location: Data is stored locally on your device (via Android SharedPreferences, local SQLite storage, and cache) and synchronized with our secure server infrastructure.

Data Retention: Anonymous device preferences and user-entered personal events are retained only as long as you use the application.

How to Delete Your Data:

  • Local Data: You can clear all cached data, prayer alarms, and local settings at any time by going to your Android device Settings → Apps → Zamaan → Storage → Clear Data, or by uninstalling the application.
  • Server-side Data: To request deletion of any preferences or personal events associated with your device identifier from our servers, you may send an email to support@magnustic.com, and we will promptly purge the records within 30 days.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to safeguard your information:

  • All communications between the Zamaan app and our servers are encrypted using Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS).
  • Server-side databases are protected with strict access controls and firewall policies.
  • We do not store sensitive payment information, government IDs, or sensitive biometric data.

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

Zamaan is a general-audience utility application providing calendar and prayer time information. It is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or under the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@magnustic.com, and we will delete such data immediately.

8. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA/CPRA Compliance)
